The winner of the UAA/Seattle Pacific game will take on Western Washington University – the No. 1 seed – on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. Alaska Standard Time. If the Seawolves defeat Seattle Pacific, UAA will host Western Washington in the semifinals.

Historically, the Seawolves have dominated in the GNAC tournament. The ladies have captured six of the 12 titles, with victories in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2020.

The Seawolves have a 15-5 overall record in GNAC tournament games, going 2-2 in the quarterfinals, 7-2 in the semifinals and 6-1 in the finals.

Last year, UAA came up short in the semifinals, losing to Central Washington University – the eventual conference champions – by 15 points. The most recent Seawolf title was in 2020, when UAA defeated Western Washington 89-68.

But before the ladies can make a run for the GNAC conference title, they must first defeat Seattle Pacific.

In their all-time series against the Falcons, UAA leads 38-36 overall and 19-2 under current head coach Ryan McCarthy. The Seawolves hold a nine game win streak against Seattle Pacific, with their most recent win on Feb. 23.

Seattle Pacific has lost eight of their last 12 games, going 4-8 since Jan. 14. The Seawolves, on the other hand, are 8-4 since Jan. 14 and are currently on a four game win streak.

And as if their resume wasn't already enough to defeat Seattle Pacific, the Seawolves also have momentum from an impressive season on their side.

This year, the ladies have broken three school records:most three-pointers attempted, most steals and most points in the third quarter – and have tied two more records – most three-pointers made and most points in any quarter.

Lastly, UAA has coach McCarthy on their side. McCarthy is ranked fifth among active NCAA Division II coaches for career winning percentage, sitting at an impressive 0.809.

He has led the Seawolf women's basketball program to unprecedented heights, capturing six straight GNAC regular-season titles, four GNAC tournament titles and eight straight NCAA tournament berths.
