Stand Up Alaska organized a protest on April 19 coinciding with nationwide protests. Stand Up Alaska is a nonprofit organization promoting social welfare by raising awareness about systemic injustice and civic engagement. Participants gathered at Town Square Park at 12 p.m. and marched westward down Sixth Avenue to the Peterson Tower, where U.S. Sens. Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski’s offices are located. They then marched east on Fifth Avenue back to Town Square Park and concluded the protest around 2 p.m. Chants such as “stand up,” “fight back” and honking from passing cars were audible.
